Curse of the Necrarch

Black Library novel cover; ©Games Workshop

Acrylic, Approx 13" x 20".

Original artwork for sale; UK£2000.

The knight strikes out with his sword, the outcome of this fateful swing will determine not just his fate, but that of his entire country...

I wanted to put a lot of detail into this painting, as a consequence it ran the risk of being over cluttered. To offset this, and help with providing a focal point, I chose a strong dominant light source - the Vampire's staff.

This allowed for the strong cast shadow, and quick recession into darkness. It also helped provide drama, which I further emphasised by the use of the low viewpoint, and tilted horizon.

You can see the Black Library mock up, with all the trade dress on, here

Simply amazing. The detail is terrific. How long did this take you to complete?

Wow, that's fantastic. The amount of details is very impressive, and wonderful use of colors. Great composition and focus.

Yet another tour de force - though I am a little worried that the knight appears to be falling into the abyss.
