Gardmore Abbey

Madness at Gardmore Abbey: D&D super adventure
©Wizards of the Coast.

Acrylic, Approx 21" x 27"

Original artwork for sale.

Facebook Page: [link]

The abbey had long since been overrun by barbaric evil forces, but it had yet to yield all it's secrets...

The overall composition is broadly triangular, but
The Ettin (two-headed giant) allowed me to direct it's gaze in opposite directions, creating different dynamics.

I also chose to a strong palette of blues Vs reds/purples to create a lot of push/pull dynamism in the colour.

Details of the book can be found here: [link]

I also have details of the sketch stages to view on my Blog:

Fantastic job on the colours and the extreme foreshortening you used on the trolls gives the picture a lot of energy.

If I encountered something like this in the game I would
1) Shit myself
2) Die a painful death

Excellent work. I always love reading your analysis as well.

Ahahah! Love that displacer beast! Or what's left of it, anyway... Somehow it introduces some really mundane and, well, directly practical relations - even if somewhat brutal - to the fantasy world of You-Know-What-&-What. Great color, great dynamic, viva the traditional medias! Superb :)

Wow this is some crazy work. Before knowing its category I thought it was digital but doubting because it has that traditional style and when I knew it was traditional I was like "WOW insane"

I love acrylics and this is great. Nice composition and use of colors and tones.
