The Paladin charges across the dusty ground, the intense heat of the sun forgotten, as he rushes to aid his friends.
I wanted this piece to scream action. I used a low point of view to make the figure powerful, and foreshortening to increase his intensity. This was then combined with a strong lighting effect (like that found in my other piece Ambush).
Then to draw the eye to nearest point, and the focus of the action, I used blue-grey for the halberd blade. This is the only diversion from the, otherwise limited, palette spectrum of yellow-orange-red.
