Spiral of Tharizdun

Feywild Fortune Cards Packaging Art .

Acrylic, Approx 14" x 17"

Original artwork for sale.

'Scar not only carries a big axe, but he can also wield some powerful magic.'

This was created as the cover art for a Dungeons & Dragons fortune cards set. The focus of the image needed to be in the top part of the picture, in this respect the magical fire proved to be a useful tool in providing focus and letting me add some strong rim lighting to give the figure depth.

Deatils of the cards can be found here:

While your Neverwinter picture is probably my favourite piece of D&D art of all time, this one - plus quite a few others - is yet another example of your art that inspires things in my D&D game. So, hoping you don't mind comment from a D&D nerd rather than a real artist, thanks again for posting your work for us all to enjoy.

The symbol/spiral thing looks like the symbol for Konohagakure, the Village Hidden in the Leaves. From Naruto.

At first I thought he was drawing the naruto (leaf village?) symbol in flames, I was like wtf? That aside, awesome work

The whole piece is great of course, but my favorite aspect is his armor. So many details! Love the whole color palette, too :)

Why is he called Scar?

Looks pretty cool. Like a mix between an orc and a scotsman.

I didn't choose the name - but he does have a number of scars if you look closely...

I am guessing he had either a very uninteresting name, or a very complicated one.
