Description
Taldor - Echoes of Glory
Pathfinder Companion cover artwork.
© Paizo; Pathfinder.
Acrylic, Approx 13" x 16.5".
Original artwork for sale; UK£1300.
The knights battled fiercely, each striving for an upper hand in both their individual fight and endless civil war
To attempt to keep focus on the main protagonists I chose a strong spotlight behind them, in the form of the setting sun, which creates powerful rim lighting. Accompanying this the background recedes through atmospheric perspective and muted palette, whilst the fallen figures drop into deeper shadows.
The two sides in the battle are purposely similar, with only small differences in their heraldic devices, to add to the sense of intermingled confusion.
Details of the product, and a picture of this image with trade dress on, can be seen here:

Excellent work. You've really managed to capture the essence of the dying empire quite well.
If I was to make one critique about the picture, it would be that the one knight's mace is MASSIVE. No human alive could swing a mace whose head was the size of, well, your head, for more than two or three swings before becoming exhausted. A smaller mace head would look more natural in his hand.
Minor quibble, I know, especially coming from someone who has not an iota of your talent.
