The Monk - Dragon 375 cover by RalphHorsley The Monk - Dragon 375 cover by RalphHorsley
The Monk

Dragon #375 cover artwork; Dungeons & Dragons. ©Wizards of the Coast

Acrylic, Approx 16.5" x 16.5".

Original Artwork for sale; £1000

Size and power should not be confused.

It was fun to work on such a 'David & Goliath' image. I decided to frame the Monk within the triangle of the two Goristo demons, then emphasise and contrast him with the use of the intense cool blue colour of his robes.

A low down view was chosen to help emphasise the scale and the immensity of what he is up against. The green 'flame' helps provide a source for the cast green rim light, which also helps pick out the figures one against the other.

The cover artwork can be seen in use here:

3 years after you painted this and it's still one of my absolute faves of yours, so dynamic and....sexy and I still wait for the day when a monk can solo two goristro demons

This is really well done, great work. It doesn't capture my attention the same way a lot of your work does, but it's still a great piece of art. ^^

Really gorgeous work. The textures just on the demons are something to be admired. I love the way that you manage to create such a great sense of distance, especially with the demon furthest away, as his leg fades into the background. The sense of scale is very much apparent also. It's a great image to view and fires the imagination with it's potential story.

So intensely amazing and epic...
Also, there is a disparity between the title and your author's comments... you did indeed mean Dungeon magazine, right?
